State Palace Reveals Government Strategy to Strengthen Rupiah and Maintain Public Trust

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi has revealed that the government is continuously coordinating and working across sectors to strengthen the rupiah exchange rate in order to boost public and market confidence in the Indonesian economy. He explained that over the past one to two weeks, the government has been striving to enhance coordination and cooperation. “In the last 1-2 weeks, we have all been working to strengthen coordination, strengthen cooperation, and especially adopt policies that we hope can strengthen our currency, strengthen public perception, and strengthen market perception,” Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace on Monday, 15 June 2026. According to him, the success of Danantara in attracting global investor interest through a global bond issuance is one proof of increasing international investor confidence in Indonesia. Meanwhile, to restore public confidence, Prasetyo noted that President Prabowo Subianto has repeatedly emphasised several points to provide assurance to economic actors. “Regarding deregulation, the President has repeatedly stated that we must continue to strive to simplify our licensing procedures, so that the investment climate can develop and our economic ecosystem can also develop much more competitively,” he said. The Gerindra Party politician added that Prabowo also highlighted the importance of accelerating downstream processing and industrialisation programmes. Prasetyo explained that these steps are not only aimed at reducing dependence on imported goods but also at increasing the added value of domestic products, thereby enlarging national wealth. “Downstream processing and industrialisation are expected to produce value-added products that bring additional wealth to the nation and state,” he stated. In closing, Prasetyo affirmed that stability is a crucial factor in maintaining the business climate. Therefore, the government is inviting all elements of society, economic actors, and market participants to jointly support efforts to recover and strengthen the national economy. “We invite all citizens, market players, and economic actors to join hands, work together, and work hard to recover and strengthen our economy,” Prasetyo concluded.
