Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi outlined a number of government efforts to build and restore public trust amidst national economic dynamics. “The President (Prabowo Subianto) earlier also re-emphasised several things which, in our opinion, are part of our efforts to provide confidence to economic actors, which ultimately provides confidence to the public,” Prasetyo said in a press statement at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday. Prasetyo stated that President Prabowo had stressed the importance of deregulation to simplify licensing so that the investment climate can develop and the national economic ecosystem becomes more competitive. In addition, the President also emphasised the acceleration of downstream processing and industrialisation to Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM and CEO of Danantara Rosan Roeslani, who is also a member of the Downstreaming and Industrialisation Task Force. According to Prasetyo, strengthening the exchange rate cannot be separated from export and import performance. This trade performance is also related to the implementation of downstream processing and industrialisation programmes. Downstream processing and industrialisation are expected to reduce dependence on imported goods while producing value-added products that can increase the wealth of the nation and state. “Ultimately, we hope that the products we produce from the downstream processing and industrialisation process can provide added value that brings additional wealth to our nation and state,” he said. Prasetyo said the acceleration of deregulation as well as downstream processing and industrialisation were two things emphasised by the President, in addition to the growing confidence of foreign investors in the global bond issuance carried out by Danantara. Prasetyo added that stability is an important factor needed in the business climate. Therefore, the government invites the public, market players, and economic actors to work together and work hard to restore and strengthen the national economy. “Let us all, to all the people, to all market players, to all economic actors, join hands, work together, work hard to restore or recover and strengthen our economy,” he said. On the same occasion, Rosan stated that the success of Danantara Indonesia’s inaugural global bond issuance is proof that foreign investors still have high confidence in Indonesia. He said PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM) has issued its first international bonds worth 1.5 billion US dollars. The bond issuance received strong confidence from the international financial market, reflected in the peak orderbook value reaching approximately 4.6 billion US dollars, or more than three times the total issuance value. “This also proves that investor confidence in Indonesia is high and this is proven and real,” Rosan said.
