State Palace Explains Formation of BGN Supervisory Board

The Presidential Palace has explained the plan to form a supervisory board within the organisational structure of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The discourse arose after Nanik Sudaryati Deyang announced her resignation as Head of BGN and stated she would become the chair of the supervisory board at the institution responsible for the free nutritious meals (MBG) programme. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said a supervisory board had always been planned within the BGN. “Actually, in the organisational design of the BGN, there is indeed what is called a supervisory board,” he said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. The organisational provisions for the BGN are regulated in Presidential Regulation Number 83 of 2024 concerning the National Nutrition Agency. The document, which serves as the basis for the agency’s formation, was signed at the end of President Joko Widodo’s term. Within it, the leadership structure of the BGN consists of a steering committee, a head, and a deputy head. There is no BGN supervisory board in the organisational structure regulated by that Presidential Regulation. In November 2025, President Prabowo Subianto signed Presidential Regulation Number 115 of 2025 concerning the Governance of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme. However, this regulation did not stipulate changes to the BGN’s organisational structure. Meanwhile, Prasetyo confirmed that Nanik S. Deyang would become the chair of the BGN supervisory board after stepping down as head. The reason given was that Nanik is considered to have sufficient experience and knowledge regarding the BGN. Before being appointed as Head of the BGN in June 2026, Nanik had served as the agency’s deputy head. Prasetyo stated that this experience was a consideration for President Prabowo Subianto in entrusting the position of chair of the supervisory board to Nanik. “Of course, with her experience, the President feels that Mrs Nanik can still provide an optimal contribution in a different role,” said the Minister of State Secretary. Nanik Sudaryati Deyang announced her resignation as Head of the BGN via Facebook on Wednesday this week. She cited her reason for resigning as wanting to focus on heart treatment. The plan to form the BGN supervisory board by President Prabowo was conveyed by Nanik alongside her resignation announcement. Nanik stated that the president had asked her to take on the position of Chair of the BGN Supervisory Board. Nanik said the supervisory position could still be carried out during her treatment process. “The important thing is that it does not involve handling money, I swear I have acute trauma,” said Nanik, accompanied by a smile emoji, as per the caption of her Facebook post on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.
