State Palace assures public input on military basic training will be heeded

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro has assured that all public input regarding the evaluation of military basic training for prospective managers of the Merah Putih Village and Sub-district Cooperatives is important and will be heeded. Speaking at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, Juri emphasised that the government is working to prevent a recurrence of the incident that claimed the lives of five trainee managers during the training. “Public input is important and will be heeded,” Juri said in response to reporters’ questions about the evaluation. “Evaluations and improvements are continuously being carried out, but the main point is to mitigate so that problems like the deaths of five people do not happen again. So, God willing, going forward it will be anticipated so there are no more casualties.” One of the steps taken is conducting follow-up health examinations for all training participants. Head of the Defence Ministry’s Human Resources Development Agency, Major General TNI Ketut Gede Wetan Pastiat, stated at a press conference in Jakarta on Saturday that as a mitigation measure, organisers have also carried out further health checks, observation, and isolation for participants requiring medical services. According to Ketut, the examinations allow instructors to understand the physical condition and medical history of participants, enabling them to adjust the type of physical training to individual conditions. In addition to health screenings, coordination with several hospitals will be strengthened to ensure referred participants receive maximum care. “We are coordinating intensively with hospitals and TNI health facilities to ensure all participants receive fast and optimal health services,” said Ketut.
