State Palace Addresses Prabowo's Plan to Reshuffle the Red and White Cabinet
State Secretary Minister (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi has again confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto has no plans to reshuffle the Red and White Cabinet.
The statement was made by Prasetyo when asked about filling the positions of Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Wamenimipas) and Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan), which remain vacant.
“Not yet, not yet. As of today there are no plans for a reshuffle,” said Prasetyo, who also serves as Presidential Spokesperson, during a press conference after a meeting at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday 10 August 2026.
According to Prasetyo, should the President eventually decide to reshuffle the cabinet, the first priority would be to fill government positions that still lack officials.
The position of Wamenimipas became vacant after Silmy Karim was implicated in an alleged corruption case. Silmy was named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for alleged extortion in June 2026.
Meanwhile, the Wamentan position was left by Sudaryono after he was entrusted to lead the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
Sudaryono was inaugurated as Head of BGN at the end of July 2026, replacing Nanik S. Deyang who resigned. After accepting the position, Sudaryono stated that he would not retain the Wamentan post to avoid holding concurrent positions.
To date, the government has not appointed replacements for either deputy minister position.
Previously, Prasetyo had also stated that there was no presidential decision to reshuffle the Red and White Cabinet. This was conveyed even though evaluations of the performance of ministers and government officials continue to be carried out.
While at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday 21 July 2026, Prasetyo said that evaluation and oversight of the cabinet ranks is a routine process.
The evaluation is carried out to ensure that various government programmes run according to the targets and objectives that have been set.
“As we have often said, the evaluation or oversight process does not always lead to a reshuffle,” he said.
Prasetyo explained that the President has a number of parameters in assessing the performance of ministries and the officials within them.
The assessment is carried out through coordination, monitoring, and providing regular input to the government ranks.
In addition to work results and target achievement, the public communication of ministers is also one of the aspects considered in the evaluation.
