State-Owned Textile Enterprise Unresolved, Danantara Boss: We Will Create a New Company

The discourse regarding the formation of a state-owned textile industry has been floated by the government since January 202fully, yet with only three months remaining in 2026, the plan has yet to be realised. Today, the government held a limited meeting concerning the development of the textile industry. However, there has been no significant progress regarding the establishment of the textile state-owned enterprise (BUMN).

CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, explained that a new state-owned enterprise will be formed to act as a leader in the textile industry. This company will serve as a holding entity to develop other textile companies as partners.

“We will indeed create a new company. This new company will be able to develop existing companies that we identify, and we can partner with existing textile firms,” said Rosan at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (22/9/2026).

There are also plans to develop a specialised, integrated industrial zone for the textile industry under the state-owned umbrella. “As for the integrated approach, we will initiate this within a single industrial zone,” Rosan explained.

Rosan continued by stating that they will also examine several existing industries for potential development, particularly regarding technology and machinery rejuvenation. “We will also look into whether there are textile companies with the potential for us to develop, especially in terms of machinery and technology; we are open to that,” he added.

Rosan further noted that the government has not set a target for the formation of the textile state-owned enterprise in the near future. “Not yet,” he stated briefly.
