State-Owned Telecom Company Partners with South Korean Tech Giant to Develop Earth Observation Technology
PT Telkom Satelit Indonesia (Telkomsat) has partnered with a South Korean space technology company, Nara Space, to develop Earth Observation technology in Indonesia. The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Partnership Agreement in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5).
The signing ceremony was attended by Telkomsat’s Director of Development, Anggoro Kurnianto Widiawan, and Nara Space’s VP of Business Development, Minsik Kim.
This collaboration aims to expand global cooperation in the field of space technology and promote the development of satellite-based Earth observation technology.
Telkomsat’s Director of Development, Anggoro Kurnianto Widiawan, said that the two companies would work together in technology development and explore market opportunities.
“Through this collaboration, Telkomsat and Nara Space will collaborate in various areas, including research and development of satellite-based Earth observation technology, exploration of market opportunities, and joint use cases,” said Anggoro in a statement on Friday (15/5).
Nara Space is a space technology company that focuses on the development of Earth Observation satellites and data analytics. The company also has end-to-end capabilities, including the provision of satellite data-based analytics services.
This collaboration is expected to be the initial foundation in building sustainable cooperation to meet the needs of data and satellite imagery analysis services in various sectors in Indonesia, ranging from government to industry and disaster management.
In addition, the collaboration is also aimed at supporting the development of an ecosystem of infrastructure and cross-sector data integration. Earth Observation technology is considered to have a strategic role in regional monitoring, disaster mitigation, natural resource management, and accelerating national digital transformation.
Telkomsat stated that it will continue to expand global collaborations to bring satellite-based technology innovations that can provide added value for customers, industry, and society. (Ant/E-2)
