State-Owned Mining Firm's Education Investment to Forge a Golden Generation
MIND ID, along with all its group members, is consistently supporting the realisation of Indonesia’s Golden Generation through social investment in education, particularly within its operational areas. This move is part of the company’s long-term strategy to build superior human resources ready to support the future development of Indonesia’s civilisation.
Throughout 2025, the MIND ID Group has implemented various strategic programmes. One flagship initiative is MINDucation: Empowering Coastal Students, a collaboration between MIND ID and PT Timah to expand educational opportunities for students in coastal and remote island regions. As part of this initiative, PT Timah has managed the Pemali Boarding School since 2000. This boarding programme provides educational access for high-achieving students from underprivileged families in Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands. To date, the programme has graduated 886 alumni and is currently supporting 107 active students at SMAN 1 Pemali.
Beyond boarding facilities, MIND ID and PT Timah have partnered with Ruangguru to provide tutoring through the MINDucation programme. This collaboration aims to boost students’ competitiveness, preparing them for admission to state universities or entry into the professional workforce. Andara Vista, a student at Pemali Boarding School, shared her experience: ‘Now I receive additional tutoring through MINDucation and live in a dormitory environment that greatly supports my growth. The burden on my parents has become much lighter, and I feel far more confident and ready to pursue my dreams.’ The programme has shown significant impact, with 72 students in grades 11 and 12 receiving additional academic support for university preparation. As a result, 27 students, or approximately 75% of the participants, successfully gained admission to state universities.
Through synergy with the Education Office, MIND ID is also supporting Indonesia’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals target of completing 12 years of compulsory education. The programme not only eases the economic burden on parents but also acts as a catalyst for social inclusion and economic self-reliance in communities surrounding mining operations. Strengthening educational access and quality is a long-term commitment of the MIND ID Group to cultivate a competitive generation capable of breaking the cycle of poverty in their home regions.
