State-Owned Enterprises Agency: Jasa Raharja and KAI to Guarantee Treatment Costs for Train Accident Victims
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Agency (BP BUMN), Dony Oskaria, has requested Jasa Raharja to provide guarantees for treatment costs for victims of the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station, and asked PT KAI to provide compensation.
“I have already asked KAI to provide compensation and so on. This is as a form of our condolences,” Dony said when met on the sidelines of the Jakarta Globe Insight event held in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Dony conveyed that the evacuation process for victims of the train accident is a government priority, including providing hospital facilities involving Jasa Raharja.
He directly participated in ensuring the smooth evacuation process for victims of the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station. Dony also committed to reviewing all railway crossings in Indonesia, as they are directly related to passenger safety.
Dony stated that passenger safety always receives special attention from the government. Since the beginning of the year, he continued, the government has paid great attention to the safety of train users.
“I always say that trains only have two KPIs. One related to safety, the second electrification,” said Dony.
The required budget is estimated to reach nearly Rp4 trillion. Later, Dony continued, the budget for crossing improvements will be combined with the train budget and state-owned enterprises that will participate in enhancing the safety of train users as well as road users crossing the tracks.
In the accident incident, the Argo Bromo train collided with a stationary KRL Commuter Line at Bekasi Timur Station, after a taxi blocked the KRL in the track area near Bulak Kapal according to the Public Relations of PT Kereta Api Indonesia Daop I Jakarta.
KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin stated that as of 08.45 WIB, 14 people were recorded dead.
PT Jasa Raharja has issued a letter of guarantee for treatment costs to eight hospitals (RS) handling victims of the accident involving the Electric Rail Train (KRL) and long-distance train in Bekasi Timur, West Java.
Jasa Raharja President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the step was taken to ensure all victims receive optimal medical treatment without administrative obstacles.
Meanwhile, PT Kereta Api Indonesia is committed to providing compensation to victims of the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi.
