State-Owned Enterprise Supervisory Board Reaffirms Commitment of Perum to Public Service

The Director of Management for State-Owned Enterprises (Perum) at BP BUMN, Muhammad Khoerur Roziqin, has reaffirmed the commitment of Perum-status enterprises to providing services to the community.

“Perum is no longer directed to seek maximum profit. Instead, the focus is more on serving the public and creating socio-economic impacts for the community,” Roziqin stated during a media briefing in Lembang, West Java, on Thursday.

This commitment serves as the foundation for the government to strengthen the role of Public Service Obligations (PSO) in an efficient, modern manner that is oriented towards national competitiveness.

Rozieyqin also noted that the discourse regarding changing the status of Perum to Persero (limited liability companies) has been temporarily suspended, with a direction to maintain their current Perum status.

“Because, as per existing regulations, they possess a very strong social and public impact. If they were converted to Persero, they would be driven to seek profit, and ultimately, the message within the regulations would not be achieved,” he said.

Therefore, for the time being, the Perum status for several state-owned enterprises will be maintained with the hope that they can perform public services to the maximum extent possible.

Roziqin explained that serving the community is one of the five pillars of the Perum commitment. The other pillars include operational excellence; financial sustainability; innovation and collaboration; and good governance.

“The entire business model must be implemented through good governance, with integrity from both management and employees. These are the five pillars being built within the Perum transformation,” Roziqin added.
