Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Deputy Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN), Tedi Bharata, stated that the transformation for state-owned enterprises with ‘Perum’ (public company) status focuses on continuous improvement.

“For Perum, the form of transformation is continuous improvement,” Tedi remarked during the ANTARA Business Forum held in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Regarding the transformation of SOEs with Perum status, Tedi urged these companies to delve deeper into the values that justify their existence. These values pertain to the public service quality they aim to provide to the community.

Distinguishing them from SOEs with ‘Persero’ (limited liability) status, Tedi noted that Perum-status enterprises are not targeted to maximise profits. Instead, he stated that Perum-status SOEs have a duty to provide social benefits to the public, such as Perum LKBN ANTARA.

In addition to asking Perum-status SOEs to re-examine their public service values, Tedi also urged them to maintain financial sustainability. He believes that without financial sustainability, it will be difficult for these companies to provide benefits to the public.

“Furthermore, they must achieve operational excellence. Operational excellence is about how they operate; they must be in a constant state of process. Much like their counterparts in Danantara, all SOEs must also undergo transformation,” Tashi said.

It was previously reported that the Director of Public Company Management at BP BUMN, Muhammad Khoerur Roziqin, reaffirmed the commitment of Perum-status SOEs to serving the community.

Roziqin also stated that the discourse regarding changing the status of Perum to Persero has been temporarily suspended, with direction instead given to maintain their current Perum status.
