Jakarta (ANTARA) - Dony Oskaria, Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Body (BP BUMN) and Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Indonesia, has stated that state-owned banks must become healthier, more competitive, and adaptive in facing economic dynamics to support national development and create greater added value for society and the state. “Strong growth must be supported by strong fundamentals,” Dony Oskaria said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Saturday. According to him, state-owned enterprises in the banking sector have a strategic role in maintaining the stability of the financial system while acting as the engine of financing for productive sectors. Dony added that strengthening corporate actions is an important part of reinforcing business fundamentals, enhancing competitiveness, and supporting sustainable national economic growth. He said that on Friday (3/7), his party held a meeting with the Board of Directors of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, to discuss the company’s performance development, business strategy direction, and various corporate action plans to be undertaken by the company going forward. In the meeting, the discussion focused on evaluating and strengthening BNI’s corporate action strategy to increase business capacity, expand financing to productive sectors, and strengthen the company’s position in the national banking industry. Additionally, the development of business opportunities and strengthening synergy within the state-owned enterprise ecosystem were also highlighted as part of efforts to drive sustainable company growth. “BNI needs to continue to enlarge its business capacity so that it can make an even greater contribution to the national economy,” said Dony. Through these steps, BP BUMN together with Danantara Indonesia continue to encourage the strengthening of state-owned banks to be healthier, more competitive, and adaptive in facing economic dynamics. The strengthening of a sustainable growth strategy is expected to further solidify BNI’s role in supporting national development and creating greater added value for society and the state.
