“The state will continue to provide full attention and support,” he said here on Sunday. He also assured that their families will remain part of the TNI’s extended family.

Simanjuntak emphasized that the loss of the soldiers is a deep sorrow for the TNI, especially the Army, but their sacrifice in Lebanon’s UN peacekeeping mission has served as a reminder that every assignment carries risks and demands dedication to the nation and humanity.

Despite the risks, he stressed that their sacrifice will not reduce TNI’s commitment to global peace missions.

“The spirit, dedication, and bravery of the fallen soldiers should serve as an example for all troops,” he said.

As a final tribute, he led the release ceremony for the soldiers who died while serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) at the VIP Apron of Terminal 3, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, on Saturday (April 4).

The bodies arrived in Jakarta on a flight from Turkey at 5:00 p.m. local time. President Prabowo Subianto attended to pay final respects before the soldiers were transported to their hometowns for military burial.

The ceremony began with the handover of the bodies from their unit to the state, received by Simanjuntak. The fallen soldiers were Major (Posthumous) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Chief Sergeant (Posthumous) Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Corporal Second Class (Posthumous) Farizal Rhomadhon.

Major Zulmi Aditya Iskandar was sent to Bandung for burial at Cikutra Heroes’ Cemetery, Chief Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan to Magelang at Giri Dharmoloyo II Cemetery, and Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon to Kulonprogo at Giripeni Cemetery.

Simanjuntak concluded, “We have lost three of the nation’s finest soldiers, chosen to carry out peacekeeping duties. Their dedication and sacrifice will always be remembered.”
