State Civil Service Talent Management Encouraged to Adopt Merit-Based System
JAKARTA — The Domestic Policy Strategic Agency (BSKDN) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs held a Workshop on Strengthening Talent Management for State Civil Servants (ASN) as part of strategic efforts to strengthen institutional capacity through more professional, planned, and merit-based management of government personnel in Jakarta on Monday, 9 March 2026.
Secretary of BSKDN Noudy R.P. Tendean, in his opening remarks, expressed appreciation to speakers who shared understanding regarding the strengthening of merit systems in civil service management. According to him, this activity represented an important momentum for strengthening the quality of human resources within BSKDN.
“The organisation of this workshop is part of strategic efforts to strengthen BSKDN’s institutional capacity through more professional, planned, and merit-based human resource management for government personnel,” he said.
Further, he explained that in the current era of modern bureaucracy, strengthening talent management for state civil servants has become one of the important pillars in supporting the realisation of a professional, adaptive, competent, and competitive bureaucracy. This also aligns with the civil service reform agenda that has been ongoing since the 1998 reformation era.
According to him, the application of talent management is necessary to ensure that every civil servant with the best potential and competence can be prepared and developed optimally to occupy strategic positions within the organisation.
“Every civil servant possesses potential and competence that can then be prepared and developed optimally to occupy strategic positions within the organisation. That is the importance of talent management,” he affirmed.
