The Ministry of Finance recorded a state budget deficit of Rp196.5 trillion in the first semester of 2026, equivalent to 0.76% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This fiscal condition remains within safe and controlled limits due to a surge in solidly growing state revenue. The deficit resulted from revenue of Rp1,459 trillion against state expenditure of Rp1,656.6 trillion. “On the other hand, fiscal health is maintained. The deficit is 0.76% and the primary balance is Rp85.1 trillion,” stated Purbaya during the APBN KiTa release on Tuesday (21/7/2026). Purbaya affirmed optimism that the fiscal deficit will continue to be maintained until the end of the year, underpinned by state revenue growth reaching double digits, specifically 21.4% year-on-year, in the first semester of 2026. “With strong revenue growth, the deficit is Rp196.5 trillion,” he explained. At the same time, Purbaya stressed that state spending will be optimised to support the government’s priority programmes. He also confirmed that the 2026 state budget deficit will remain below 3%.
