State Banquet: Prabowo Highlights Strategic RI-Korea Relations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stated that bilateral meetings between Indonesian and South Korean leaders have yielded productive and strategic achievements for Indonesia-South Korea relations.
This was conveyed by Prabowo at a state luncheon hosted by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung as a gesture of respect to the Indonesian leader at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Korea, Cheong Wa Dae (Blue House), Seoul, on Wednesday.
“The enhancement of our bilateral relations to a special comprehensive strategic partnership, along with the signing of several important agreements, reflects deep trust and a shared vision binding our two countries,” Prabowo said in an official statement from the BPMI of the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Furthermore, Prabowo expressed his confidence that the strengthened partnership and the agreements reached will bring tangible and sustainable benefits to both nations.
The Head of State also highlighted the similarities in the historical journeys of Indonesia and the Republic of Korea, both of which struggled hard to achieve independence and build their nations.
“We share many similarities in history and common interests. Both our countries had to fight very hard for independence. The Republic of Korea has succeeded remarkably well in becoming a highly advanced industrial nation,” said Prabowo.
On that occasion, Prabowo also expressed his admiration for South Korea’s achievements, particularly in industrial progress and the work ethic of its people.
President Prabowo even quoted a Korean proverb, “함께 가면 멀리 간다” [hamkke gamyeon meolli ganda], as a reflection of the spirit of togetherness in strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
“We admire your achievements. We admire your discipline, your hard work, and your desire to always overcome challenges. I understand there is a famous Korean proverb that goes something like this: 함께 가면 멀리 간다. If we go together, (we) will go far,” said the President.
This state luncheon not only serves as a symbol of diplomatic honour but also strengthens the commitment of both countries to building a mutually beneficial strategic partnership oriented towards the future.
