State and Private School Capacity in Cimahi City Surplus for New Academic Year
The Education Department (Disdik) of Cimahi City has stated that the capacity of both state and private junior high schools (SMP) is in surplus for accepting primary school (SD) graduates this year. Consequently, parents in Cimahi City need not be anxious about the New Student Admission System (SPMB) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.
Based on Disdik data, the capacity for the SMP level in Cimahi City reaches 11,284 seats, while the number of prospective new students is 10,523. This means there is a surplus of seats guaranteeing that all SD graduates in Cimahi City will have access to education.
“The capacity of state, private, and madrasah schools in Cimahi is able to accommodate all new graduates. The public does not need to worry about running out of quotas,” said the Head of Disdik Cimahi City, Nana Suyatna, when contacted on Sunday (21/6/2026).
Although the school seat quota is considered to be in surplus, the biggest challenge lies in the distribution of students to prevent them from piling up in certain schools deemed favourites. Nana stated that the quality of both state and private schools in Cimahi City is already very good.
Nana explained that the SPMB registration in Cimahi City has opened in the same manner as the previous year. The domicile route, for instance, is open online from 2-4 July for the SMP level and 22-24 June for the SD level. This route prioritises students who live close to the school.
Furthermore, Nana continued, there is the affirmation route, specifically for students from underprivileged families; the achievement route to appreciate students’ academic and non-academic abilities; and the parental job transfer or mutation route. These three SPMB registration routes are open from 11-13 June 2026.
“This scheme provides an opportunity for students to enter schools according to their area of residence and social conditions, so that the concentration of applicants does not only occur in certain schools,” said Nana.
