The government has officially restricted purchases of subsidised fuels, Pertalite and solar, starting Wednesday, 1 April 2026. Each private vehicle is limited to a maximum purchase of 50 litres per day. Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, explained that this measure is intended to ensure that the public uses fuel wisely and reasonably. The restriction is enforced by regulating purchases using the MyPertamina barcode. Daily refuelling can be done reasonably up to 50 litres per vehicle, or until the tank is full. This regulation does not apply to trucks and public transport. “To ensure fuel distribution, the government will regulate purchases using the MyPertamina barcode with a reasonable limit of 50 litres per vehicle. However, this does not apply to public vehicles,” said Airlangga during a press conference on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. On the same occasion, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, urged the public to remain calm as the government guarantees the fulfilment of energy needs. “We must purchase fuel in a reasonable and prudent manner,” he explained. The government has also decided that there will be no price adjustments for fuels, whether subsidised or non-subsidised. “We convey that the government, on the instructions of the President and the results of the meeting, will not adjust prices, neither increases nor decreases,” he stated. Previously, the State Secretary Minister, Prasetyo Hadi, addressed rumours of planned fuel price adjustments or increases. Prasetyo said the government has coordinated with Pertamina regarding this issue. President Prabowo Subianto has also given directions for policies to prioritise the interests of the people. “Therefore, we need to convey that after coordination in this matter between the government and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources with Pertamina and on the instructions of the President,” said Prasetyo to reporters on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. “The President always prioritises the interests of the people and society in making decisions,” he added. As a result of the coordination, Prasetyo stated that Pertamina will not raise prices for either subsidised or non-subsidised fuels. “That is why Pertamina states that it will not adjust prices for either subsidised or non-subsidised fuels,” Prasetyo clarified.
