Starting July, Umrah Travel at Soekarno-Hatta Centralised at Terminal 2F
PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero), or InJourney Airports, has committed to improving service quality for Umrah pilgrims at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Starting 1 July 2026, the departure process for group Umrah pilgrims using official Umrah travel organisers (PPIU) will be gradually centralised at the dedicated Hajj and Umrah Terminal 2F. This policy refers to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation Circular Number SE-DJPU 12 of 2026 concerning the arrangement of Hajj and Umrah air transport passenger services through the dedicated Terminal 2F at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Heru Karyadi, stated that the centralised departure is intended to provide a more comfortable, orderly, and well-organised travel experience for pilgrims from their arrival at the airport until their departure to the Holy Land. The 27,418-square-metre terminal is equipped with facilities designed for the comfort of pilgrims and their families, including a waiting area with a capacity of up to 3,000 people and a mosque covering 3,136 square metres that can accommodate around 1,000 worshippers. Twenty check-in counters have been specially prepared for Umrah pilgrims, ensuring the check-in and baggage drop process is conducted separately from regular passengers for a faster and more comfortable experience. Additionally, airport staff are dedicated solely to serving Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, as no regular passengers are processed at this terminal.
The implementation of the centralised service will follow a phased split-operation scheme by airlines. Starting 1 July 2026, Umrah pilgrims flying with Long Air, Hainan Airlines, and Saudia Airlines will be processed through Terminal 2F. From 8 July 2026, the service will extend to Scoot and Turkish Airlines, and from 15 July 2026, it will include Qatar Airways, Egypt Air, Oman Air, Emirates, and Etihad Airways. Heru Karyadi explained that the phased approach is designed to ensure an optimal operational transition and provide time for all stakeholders to adjust their service processes. Terminal 2F previously served Umrah charter flights for Lion Air starting in 2022 and later expanded to Garuda Indonesia charter and regular flights in 2025, with continuous facility and operational improvements leading to this wider implementation.
