Creativity among UMKM entrepreneurs continues to produce unique products that highlight Indonesia’s cultural richness, one example being Yummy Craft, a business offering various products with designs inspired by the diverse cuisine of the Archipelago.

Founded in 2022, Yummy Craft develops craft products with a distinctive design approach while introducing Indonesia’s culinary wealth through functional works. The design inspiration comes from visual documentation of various dishes captured through a hobby in cooking and travelling, which is then developed into motifs on various Yummy Craft craft products.

Yummy Craft founder Sri Kumala Ambarwati explained that the initial idea for the business stemmed from personal hobbies that evolved into business opportunities.

“It started from my hobby in cooking and travelling. I often photographed my own cooking results, then used those photos as product designs for merchandise for foreign friends visiting Indonesia,” she said.

One of the most popular products among customers is the Foldable Bag, a foldable bag with Archipelago culinary designs using high-quality materials that can be washed without fading. As the business developed, various designs initially made as merchandise evolved into products with their own character.

“The unique designs are not only for fashion but also rich in Indonesian cultural education,” Sri explained.

In addition to presenting designs inspired by Archipelago cuisine, Yummy Craft also develops product innovations as part of efforts to increase business added value.

“We are also developing sustainable derivative products by utilising gebang leaves to create high-value products with potential as export commodities,” she added.

Currently, Yummy Craft products are marketed through various offline channels such as shops in shopping centres, souvenir centres, and creative product galleries. The market continues to expand with buyers from various regions such as Jakarta, Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, to Bandung. The products have even reached the international market, including Japan.

In the journey of developing the business, various challenges were faced, especially in efforts to expand market reach.

“The challenge is self-confidence. My hope is to continue creating and reach a wider international market,” Sri revealed.

In developing her business, Sri has actively participated in various training and business mentoring programmes. Her involvement in BRI’s LinkUMKM programme, which she learned about through BRI’s Rumah BUMN in Jakarta, has added to her business network while making her products more recognised.

Through the LinkUMKM platform, BRI continues to provide a learning and mentoring ecosystem for UMKM entrepreneurs in Indonesia. By the end of 2025, LinkUMKM has been utilised by 14.98 million UMKM as a means of enhancing business capacity online, from strengthening competencies to expanding market access.

The platform offers six main integrated features, namely UMKM Smart, Rumah BUMN, UMKM Media, Community, Digital Showcase, and NIB Registration, supported by 750 learning modules designed to strengthen entrepreneurs’ soft and hard skills.

BRI Micro Director Akhmad Purwakajaya stated that creative UMKM capable of highlighting local cultural richness have great potential to develop in wider markets.

“UMKM products that can highlight local cultural richness while presenting innovation have great potential to develop in wider markets. Through business capacity building and sustainable innovation, UMKM entrepreneurs can increase product added value while expanding market access. Through LinkUMKM, BRI continues to assist UMKM to enhance business capacity while expanding market reach to the international level,” Akhmad said.
