Starting April, iPhone Can Accept Payments in Indonesia Without EDC Machines

Apple is introducing the Tap to Pay feature on iPhone in Indonesia through the launch of the Apple Business platform. This feature enables business owners to accept payments directly using an iPhone without the need for additional EDC machines. Tap to Pay in Indonesia will arrive starting 14 April 2026, coinciding with the launch of the Apple Business platform, an all-in-one service that Apple is rolling out globally in more than 200 countries and regions, including Indonesia. However, Apple has not yet provided further details on banking support and local payment partners for the Tap to Pay feature in Indonesia. Apple Business itself is a platform designed to help business owners manage various digital operational needs within a single system, from setting up work devices and internal communications via email and business calendars to managing business profiles within the Apple ecosystem. “Apple Business represents a significant leap in our commitment to helping companies of all sizes leverage the reliability of Apple’s products and services,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s Vice President of Education and Enterprise Marketing. She added that the platform integrates various Apple business services into a secure and user-friendly system, while also opening new ways for companies to reach customers. In practice, the Tap to Pay on iPhone feature allows business owners to accept payments simply by bringing a customer’s card or device close to the iPhone. In addition to the payment feature, Apple Business offers built-in device management that enables companies to centrally configure employees’ iPhones or iPads. The arrival of Apple Business simultaneously opens up potential for new competition in the digital productivity services market, which has so far been dominated by Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
