Jakarta (ANTARA) - The standard iPhone 18 model is likely to arrive with 12GB of memory capacity, according to a leak from industry analyst Dan Nystedt. Citing Macrumors on Monday, in a post on platform X, Dan stated that the standard iPhone 18 will be equipped with a large 12GB RAM capacity, also used in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. If the rumour materialises, the iPhone 18 will become the first standard model to use 12GB of memory. Additionally, Dan also mentioned previous reports indicating that Apple has secured TSMC’s 2-nanometre chip production line for the A20 processor, which is expected to be used in the iPhone 18 series. The 2-nanometre processor technology is claimed to deliver around a 15 per cent improvement in computational performance compared to the 3-nanometre generation, without reducing power efficiency. Apple is predicted to introduce new AI features through the iOS 27 operating system update, scheduled to be announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on 8 June. AI features that run directly on the device require greater memory capacity, making the RAM increase vital for the iPhone 18 to optimally run all Apple Intelligence features. Regarding the debut schedule, the standard iPhone 18 model is expected not to launch simultaneously with the iPhone 18 Pro model in the autumn of this year or around September to December 2026. Apple plans to delay the standard model’s launch until early 2027, alongside the iPhone 18e and the second-generation iPhone Air. Meanwhile, the Pro models and the long-rumoured foldable iPhone are expected to launch according to Apple’s annual schedule at the end of the year.
