Standard Chartered Bank clarifies
JAKARTA (JP): The Standard Chartered Bank has said it has no connection with the bank promoters who staged a two-day sit-in at the bank headquarters last week.
Rina Djamal, spokeswoman for Standard Chartered Bank, said yesterday that the bank uses the services of Jet 2000, the company which employs the card promotions representatives who staged the protests from Nov. 16 to Nov. 17.
She said the bank had attempted to help solve the dispute between Jet 2000 and its employees, by, among other things, offering a loan to Jet 2000. The bank also promised to continue trying to solve the dispute.
"It is important to stress that Standard Chartered Bank has paid in full for all the applications received and processed in October to all agencies, including Jet 2000," Rina told The Jakarta Post yesterday. Therefore, she added, the responsibility of paying whatever commissions are owed to the protesters rest solely with Jet 2000.
Rina also denied reports that the time required to process a Visa card was 21 days, "It has always been stated as at least 21 working days," she said. (sur)
