Jakarta - A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after carrying out an attack in Dotonbori, Osaka City, western Japan. One teenager was reported dead and two others were injured in the stabbing.

As reported by NHK Japan on Sunday (2/15/2026), the stabbing occurred on Saturday evening (2/14) local time in one of Japan’s busiest districts. The attacker fled the scene after carrying out the stabbings.

Police made the arrest on Sunday morning local time in the city. Police had actually received an emergency call shortly after the stabbing incident at 11:50 PM local time on the ground floor of a building.

The stabbing victims were reported to be three 17-year-old male teenagers. One of them died, while the other two were injured.

The deceased victim was identified as Kamada Ryunosuke, a resident of the neighboring Nara Prefecture. He died in hospital from stab wounds to the chest and other areas.

The two other victims, both from Osaka Prefecture, were stabbed in the upper body and taken to hospital, although their conditions have not been disclosed.

Police said the suspect appeared to have gotten into a dispute with the three teenagers before the attack.
