Stabbed corpse found in Pancoran

JAKARTA (JP): A city traffic police officer found the stabbed and bruised corpse of a man under the Tugu Pancoran flyover in Tebet, South Jakarta, early Tuesday morning.

Tebet police subprecinct chief Comr. Asli Manao identified the victim as Yamin, 25, and said that police were still trying to find the motive behind Yamin's murder.

"He was stabbed in the back and his face and body was covered with bruises, probably caused by a blunt object," Asli told reporters on Tuesday.

He said that traffic police officer Second. Brig. Dwi Hariyanto, who was patrolling the streets on his motorcycle, had found the corpse face down near Jl. Tugu Raya in Pancoran, in a pool of blood, on Tuesday.

"The corpse was lying amid beggars and tramps, who were fast asleep. We are questioning two tramps who were in the area," Asli said. (ylt)
