Sritex Boss Lukminto Brothers Demanded 16 Years in Prison, Lawyer: Prosecutor's Demands Like a Novel
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG – The lawyer for former President Director and Commissioner of PT Sritex, Iwan Kurniawan Lukminto and Iwan Setiawan Lukminto, Randy Irawan, expressed protests during the trial in the alleged corruption case involving his clients. He assessed that the demands from the public prosecutors (JPU) do not reflect the facts revealed in the trial.
In the trial session with the agenda of reading the demands held at the Semarang Corruption Court, Central Java, on Monday (20/4/2026), the JPU demanded 16 years in prison for the Lukminto brothers. To the Chief Judge Rommel Franciskus Tampubolon, Iwan Setiawan and Iwan Kurniawan Lukminto stated they would submit a defence note or plea in the next trial session.
When Judge Rommel Tampubolon was about to close the trial, the lawyer for the Lukminto brothers, Randy Irawan, requested time from the panel of judges to express his views. The opportunity given to him was then used to criticise and protest the JPU’s demands.
“We see that no trial facts have been presented. Even the expert testimony provided by colleagues from the Attorney General’s Office from OJK was not presented,” said Randy.
“We are truly confused. We express our protest that we will certainly read all of this (the prosecution file). But is this the form of actual justice, that trial facts should be the primary matter (as stipulated) in Article 184 of the KUHAP. And this is important for our legal certainty,” added Randy.
