Srikandi Jaga Desa Commits to Overseeing Government Programmes, Including Free Nutritious Meals

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Srikandi Jaga Desa branch of the National Association of Village Consultative Bodies (Abpednas) is committed to overseeing priority government programmes, including the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) initiative.

Following the inauguration of the central, regional, and local boards of Srikandi Jaga Desa in Jakarta on Friday night, General Chair Ella Tubagoes stated that the organisation will provide direct assistance in the implementation of these programmes.

“God willing, we are committed and consistent in guarding, assisting, and providing education to our colleagues in villages and regions regarding the MBG,” she said during a press conference.

According to her, this commitment aligns with the directives from the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Srikandi Jaga Desa Central Executive Board, Hashim Djojohadikusumo.

“Mr Hashim has informed us that there are many aspects we must attend to and implement so that the MBG programme runs well and its implementation meets its intended objectives,” she added.

Meanwhile, Sherly Tjoanda, a member of the Advisory Board, stated that one of the programmes to be integrated is the empowerment of rural women. Srikandi Jaga Desa believes that when village women are empowered, family resilience, health, and welfare are also strengthened.

“We are starting with simple programmes by providing training, assistance, and access to capital, as well as improving the quality of life and intelligence of village women so they can become more independent,” she said.

In his address, Hashim Djojohadikusumo requested that Srikandi Jaga Desa members across Indonesia oversee priority government programmes. He urged the members to mentor, assist, and supervise programme implementation to avoid potential deviations.

“The participation and role of the Srikandi members are increasingly important in providing guidance, assistance, and supervision for all government programmes to be implemented at the village level; this is a noble task entrusted to the women of Srikandi Jaga Desa,” he said.
