Jakarta (ANTARA) - The women’s organisation Srikandi Jaga Desa has committed to overseeing the government’s priority programmes, including the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) initiative. Following the inauguration of its central, regional, and branch executive boards, Chairwoman Ella Tubagoes stated that the organisation would provide direct assistance in implementing the programme. “God willing, we are committed and consistent in safeguarding and assisting, as well as providing education to our colleagues in villages and regions regarding the MBG programme,” she said during a press conference. She noted that this commitment aligns with the direction of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Hashim Djojohadikusumo. “Mr Hashim informed us that there is much we need to pay attention to and do so that the MBG runs well and is implemented according to its objectives,” she added. Meanwhile, Board of Trustees member Sherly Tjoanda stated that one of the programmes to be integrated involves empowering village women. Srikandi Jaga Desa believes that when village women are strong, family resilience, health, and welfare will also strengthen. “We are launching simple programmes by providing training, assistance, and access to capital to improve the quality of life and intelligence of village women so they become more independent,” she said. In his remarks, Hashim Djojohadikusumo called on Srikandi Jaga Desa members across Indonesia to oversee the government’s priority programmes. He urged the members to guide, assist, and supervise the implementation of programmes to prevent potential irregularities. “The role and participation of the Srikandi mothers are increasingly important in providing guidance, assistance, and supervision for all government programmes to be implemented at the village level. This is a noble task given to the Srikandi Jaga Desa mothers,” he said.
