Sri Lanka's per capita income surpasses 5,000 US dollars for the first time
Colombo (ANTARA) - Sri Lanka’s per capita income surpassed 5,000 US dollars (1 US dollar = Rp17,179) for the first time in 2025, reaching 5,003 US dollars, as reported by state media on Wednesday (22/4) local time, citing the latest annual report from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The central bank’s report indicates that Sri Lanka’s economy grew by 5 percent in 2025, a significant increase compared to previous years. According to the central bank data, Sri Lanka’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose to 32.75 trillion Sri Lankan rupees (100 Sri Lankan rupees = Rp5,452) in 2025, up from 30.1 trillion Sri Lankan rupees in 2024. The data also shows that government revenue increased to 16.7 percent of GDP.
