Sri Bintang still star of PPP
Sri Bintang still star of PPP
From Pikiran Rakyat
I was confused when I heard about the recalling of Sri Bintang Pamungkas from his position as a member of the United Development Party (PPP) in the House of Representatives. Why is it considered improper to question Pancasila while many officials who actually violate it are left unpunished?
Many legislators don't voice the people's aspirations, don't defend the people, aren't critical, aren't courageous enough to speak the truth, and in many cases only say "yes". Isn't this contradictory to the values of Pancasila?
Recalling a member from the House of Representatives is not educative, and will become a bad precedent for the United Development Party, in particular, and for social-political organizations in general.
Sri Bintang is the ideal figure for the 1997 elections as he can mobilize the young generation. He is also very popular among university students because of his broad political insight, which is in harmony with the dynamism of development. He is, indeed, still the star of the PPP.
