Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Government has selected RW 06 Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, to serve as a pilot project for a collaborative waste sorting and collection initiative involving the government, the public, the business sector, communities, and universities.

“Waste management cannot be undertaken by the government alone, nor should it rely entirely on the Regional Budget (APBD). The government prepares the policy direction and system, the community plays its role at the source, while the business world, communities, and universities can provide support according to their respective capacities,” said the Head of the Jakarta Environmental Agency, Dudi Gardesi, in Jakarta on Monday.

He noted that this approach encourages waste management to be supported not only by the Regional Budget but also strengthened through the participation and contribution of various stakeholders.

Waste management at the source in this area has been operational since the issuance of Governor’s Instruction Number 5 of 2026 regarding the Movement for Waste Sorting and Processing at the Source. Through this pilot project, existing practices are being strengthened into a more integrated sort-collect-process system.
