Srengseng Sawah Bomb Threat Perpetrator Was Entangled in Online Loans
The perpetrator of a bomb threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, identified by the initials MY, 34, was reportedly entangled in debts from online loan providers (pinjol) and mobile banks. The head of the local neighbourhood association, Anton Sianipar, explained that the suspect had frequently been visited by debt collectors. “There was a report to the JAKI app regarding the prevalence of online loans in my neighbourhood. The sub-district office reprimanded me to eradicate it. After this incident, we traced it and found that the person who made the JAKI report about online loans was him, because he was heavily in debt,” Anton said on Wednesday.
Anton noted that MY did not have a permanent job, occasionally helping his parents with air conditioner servicing and cleaning. Despite this, he was known as a sociable resident who mixed well with others. The night before the bomb threat, he was chatting with neighbours at the security post. MY has been named a suspect for sending a bomb threat via a messaging application to a first-grade teacher and administrative staff on the first day of the school orientation programme. Police revealed the motive was that the perpetrator felt offended by a teacher’s statement about school uniforms. He has been charged under Article 601 of the Criminal Code concerning threats.
