Squash to become commonplace
Squash to become commonplace
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Squash Association (PSI)
installed its new leadership board members on Monday night,
setting out its major program to eliminate the luxurious
stereotype the sport has acquired.
"Average people are restricted from playing squash since the
sport is available only in international hotels," PSI chairman
Ida Bagus Sudjana said upon swearing in his assistants. "We want
squash to become one of the sports to lift up our national
pride," Sudjana, who is also Minister of Mines and Energy, added.
PSI will soon invite entrepreneurs to build squash courts in
public places, including in office buildings. Only 17 out of the
country's 27 provinces have squash courts, with many of them
being in major hotels. (amd)
