Spurs Extend Winning Streak to 10 Games After Defeating Raptors

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Toronto Raptors 110-107 in a continuation of the NBA match at Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, Thursday (Indonesian Western Time), also extending the Spurs’ winning record to 10 consecutive games.

Quoting the NBA website, Devin Vassell led the Spurs in scoring with 21 points, followed by De’Aaron Fox who added 20 points. Young Spurs star Victor Wembanyama had a less effective night, scoring only 12 points from 3-12 shots, but he made crucial contributions in the defensive phase.

Wembanyama finished the game with eight rebounds, three assists, and five blocks. One of his important blocks was against Jakob Poeltl when there were 44 seconds left in the game. He also secured a crucial rebound after Brandon Ingram’s potential game-tying three-point shot missed in the final seconds.

On the Raptors side, Brandon Ingram recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Immanuel Quickley contributed 20 points and Scottie Barnes added 15 points. This defeat marks the third consecutive home defeat for the Canadian team.

The match was tight when both teams were tied 69-69 in the middle of the third quarter. The Raptors briefly took the lead with a 21-9 run to end the period, but the Spurs bounced back in the final quarter, taking advantage of the home team’s eight consecutive missed shots.

The Raptors also had to lose rookie Collin Murray-Boyles in the third quarter due to a left thumb injury. Meanwhile, Jakob Poeltl returned to play from the bench after previously being absent due to lower back pain.

Next, the San Antonio Spurs are scheduled to visit the Brooklyn Nets on Friday (February 27), while the Toronto Raptors will visit the Washington Wizards on Sunday (March 1).
