Public bus operator SPS Liner has launched a new AKAP (long-distance intercity) bus route between Yogyakarta and Bima in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), using sleeper buses. The news has gained traction on social media as SPS Liner is touted as the first bus operator to offer sleeper buses on this corridor. ‘Yes, using sleeper buses. No transfers, so it’s faster. Tickets start from Rp1,075,000 with five meal services,’ said an SPS Liner ticket agent to Kompas.com on Sunday, 31 May 2026. The bus journey from Yogyakarta to Bima is targeted to take 41 hours. Each seat is equipped with pillows, blankets, AVOD, and charging ports, with onboard toilets also provided. Passengers will receive snacks and drinking water. The first departure from Bandung is on 29 May from Bima at 5:00 PM WITA. The inaugural departure from Yogyakarta is on 1 June 2026 at 10:30 AM WIB. Tickets are available via the SPS Liner app (PlayStore), website sps.rongrit.com, or at official ticket agents. Regarding the route, buses departing from Bima will stop to pick up passengers in Mataram, Denpasar, Malang, Surabaya, and Solo before concluding in Yogyakarta. Conversely, buses from Yogyakarta to Bima will pass through Solo, Surabaya, Malang, Denpasar, and Mataram, ending in Bima, NTB.
