SPPG Will Not Receive Incentives During School Holidays, BGN Focuses on Improving MBG Programme Governance
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has confirmed that Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) that cease operations during the school holiday period will not receive incentives. This policy aligns with the temporary suspension of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme distribution during the school holidays.
Wakil Kepala BGN and spokesperson Agustina Arumsari explained that all SPPG units that are not operational will not receive the daily incentive. The policy refers to Circular Letter Number 12 of 2026 concerning the Adjustment of SPPG Operations during the Holiday Period for the implementation of the MBG Programme in the 2026 Fiscal Year.
She explained that each SPPG typically receives an incentive of Rp6 million per day. This incentive is usually still provided even to units that are not yet operating optimally because the number of beneficiaries remains below the maximum capacity of 3,000 people.
The temporary suspension of incentives coincides with BGN’s decision to halt MBG distribution during the school holidays. This measure is intended to support the restructuring and standardisation of the programme’s governance to make its implementation more effective and measurable.
In addition to supporting operational system improvements, the policy is also considered capable of increasing the efficiency of state budget utilisation. According to BGN data, there are currently around 27,820 SPPGs operating across various regions. By suspending the Rp6 million daily incentive over the 18-day school holiday period, BGN estimates the resulting budget savings will reach approximately Rp3 trillion.
Agustina stated that the school holiday period is being used as an opportunity to evaluate and improve the governance and operations of the MBG programme. Through this step, the government hopes that future programme implementation will be more standardised, efficient, and provide more optimal benefits for recipients.
BGN had previously announced that MBG distribution would be temporarily halted during the school holiday period from 22 June to 13 July 2026.
