SPPG Point Trading Scams on the Rise, Most Significant Case in West Java
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has coordinated with the Polri’s Free Nutritious Food Task Force (MBG) to address the growing number of suspected scams involving the sale and purchase of points for the Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG). Deputy Chief of BGN, Senior Police Inspector General (Retired) Sony Sanjaya, stated at the Polri Bareskrim building in Jakarta on Monday, 25 May 2026, that the coordination was initiated due to numerous reports of SPPG point trading fraud across regions.
“More and more information is coming in about victims of these individuals. That’s why I need to coordinate with the Polri MBG Task Force, which maintains communication with regional police stations,” he said.
Sony highlighted a significant case reported to the West Java Regional Police, where victims suffered total losses of Rp1.9 billion. “There were 21 victims, averaging Rp100 million loss per person,” he added.
He hopes regional police will assist in exposing those exploiting and tarnishing the MBG programme.
“This programme must be protected. It is a noble initiative. We cannot allow it to be misused by irresponsible individuals,” he said.
