SPPG Polri Pejaten has held its inaugural implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme using a buffet system at SMA Kemala Bhayangkari 1, Pejaten, South Jakarta, on Wednesday morning (22/04). This serving model represents a new trial in providing nutritious meals to students, and it has been enthusiastically received by the pupils. The communal dining atmosphere with the buffet system makes the MBG presentation feel different from the usual and brings a sense of togetherness to the school environment. Headmaster of SMA Kemala Bhayangkari 1, Muryanto, stated that the buffet-style MBG implementation provides direct benefits to students. Muryanto considers the programme very helpful, especially for children who have not had time to eat breakfast before heading to school. “The MBG with this buffet model is truly very beneficial. The children feel a sense of togetherness when eating with their friends. This programme is also very helpful, particularly for students who haven’t had breakfast in the morning,” said Muryanto in an official statement. Meanwhile, Head of SPPG Polri Pejaten, Muhamad Iqbal Salim, explained that the buffet system is a form of simulation to follow up on directives from superiors. This scheme is also being prepared for the buffet-style MBG implementation on the occasion of Bhayangkara Day, particularly at SPPG units under the auspices of Polri. “The advantage is that this system can train students’ orderliness and discipline. In terms of menu and nutritional calculations, it remains measured because we use measuring spoons according to nutritionist guidelines,” said Iqbal. Iqbal stated that the buffet pattern is also expected to reduce food waste figures. This is because students can adjust portions according to their needs. The results of this trial will later be evaluated to see whether the buffet system is more effective compared to the usual serving pattern.
