SPPG Employee Taunts "Ungrateful Common People", PDI-P: Citizens Deserve Best Quality Free Nutritious Meals
Jakarta — A Deputy Chair of Commission IX in the DPR from the PDI-P faction, Charles Honoris, has affirmed that citizens are entitled to receive the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme with the highest quality standards.
Consequently, Charles expressed regret that an employee of the National Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) had taunted the common people for being ungrateful when provided with substandard MBG meals.
“Certainly, the Indonesian people deserve the best, from what is produced by this MBG programme,” Charles said at the DPR Building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday 17 March 2026.
Charles called on the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to reprimand all SPPG officers to prevent similar conduct.
“For the sake of the people. Therefore, what is served to children is not merely about quantity. The target or success of the MBG programme is not based solely on the number of beneficiaries, but on the nutritional quality provided,” he added.
An SPPG employee in Purbalingga District, Central Java, was dismissed after going viral for taunting MBG beneficiaries as ungrateful common people.
In a social media post, the employee wrote a caption: “Stretching first, before facing comments from ungrateful common people, ehhh.”
Screenshots of the post circulated widely and became viral, leading to edited videos created using artificial intelligence.
“The post was uploaded via WhatsApp status on Sunday 15 March 2026 at around 7:30 PM local time. It then began circulating widely from that evening through to the present day,” said Mei, when confirmed on Tuesday 17 March 2026.
Mei disclosed that the employee in question had been dismissed by the Head of SPPG and the Samingah Mendidik Indonesia Foundation that oversees it.
“The individual concerned has already created a clarification video with an apology. Subsequently, the Head of SPPG together with the foundation partner conducted an evaluation for all personnel within SPPG,” Mei explained.
