Spotting Priority Pin Users? Offer Seats and Assistance When Needed
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Not all passengers who require priority assistance feel comfortable asking other commuters for seats or help. To make them easier to recognise, LRT Jabodelagbek provides ‘Priority Pins’ that can be used by pregnant women, passengers accompanying toddlers, the elderly, and persons with disabilities during their journey on the LRT Jabodebek service.
The Priority Pin serves as a visual marker so that other passengers can immediately identify those requiring extra attention. By recognising the pin, the public is expected to voluntarily offer priority seating or assistance when necessary, thereby creating a culture of mutual care when using public transport.
However, many members of the public are still unaware of the meaning of the Priority Pin. Simple acts of kindness, such as offering a seat to those in need, can make journeys safer, more comfortable, and more inclusive for everyone.
Priority Pins can be obtained free of charge at all LRT Jabodebek stations through customer service counters. Eligible passengers only need to present supporting documents to staff for verification. Once the process is complete, the Priority Pin will be issued immediately for use during their LRT Jabodebek travels.
In addition to helping other passengers identify priority users, the presence of the pin also assists staff in providing faster services when required, such as assistance when boarding and alighting from trains or help navigating station facilities.
To date, 2,712 passengers have utilised the Priority Pin. This data indicates significant public uptake of this facility to support safer and more comfortable travel.
Radhitya Mardika, Manager of Public Relations for LRT Jabodebek, stated that the Priority Pin is not merely a service facility, but also a means to build empathy among public transport users.
“Not all priority users feel comfortable asking other passengers for seats or assistance. Through these Priority Pins, they can be more easily recognised so that other users can provide priority without waiting for a request. This helps create a culture of mutual respect and care that can continue to grow within public transport,” he said.
LRT Jabodebek invites all passengers to pay attention to the presence of Priority Pins during their journeys. By offering seats or assistance to those wearing the pin, the public contributes to creating a more friendly, inclusive, and comfortable public transport service for all users.
