Spotlight on the Bibi Kelinci Kemang Case as DPR Invites Owner Nabilah O’Brien
Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives will invite Nabilah O’Brien, owner of Bibi Kelinci Kopitiam Kemang, together with her legal counsel and law enforcement officers, to a public hearing in Senayan, Jakarta. DPR Commission III chairman Habiburokhman said the invitation is part of parliamentary oversight of the police and other authorities, and he expressed optimism that the case would be resolved fairly and that no citizen will be criminalised. Nabilah, who posted on Instagram that she was a victim of theft, says she was charged after discussing the matter on social media; she says she kept silent for five months for fear of speaking out and now appeals to the Commission III and to the Police Chief, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, for justice and legal certainty. The incident began when a customer yelled at staff and left without paying for meals; CCTV captured the scene, showing 11 food packs and three drinks valued at Rp530,000, which were not paid for. The case has drawn attention to interactions between business owners and law enforcement.
