Spotify Launches Running Mode to Provide Playlists Tailored to Running Tempo
Spotify has introduced a new feature called Running Mode on its mobile application to organise music playlists specifically designed to accompany users during their running routines.
According to TechCrunch, the feature will arrange song lists based on the stages of a run, the user’s musical preferences, and the training tempo. Running Mode is accessible via the Fitness Hub menu and offers 25 different workout presets. Users can select specific types of training, such as interval runs, steady runs, or pyramid runs, and then customise the duration, beats per minute (BPM), and preferred music genres.
In addition to playing music, the feature is capable of providing audio guidance at each stage of the running session, although the voice guidance is currently only available in English. Earlier this year, Spotify also expanded its fitness services through a partnership with the fitness device manufacturer Peloton.
The announcement of Running Mode comes several months after the fitness application Strava ended its Spotify integration within its Record feature. Currently, Running Mode is available to Spotify Premium subscribers on iOS devices in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden.
