Sports to 'beat' gangs fights
Sports to 'beat' gangs fights
From Bisnis Indonesia
Gang fights among the young are a daily occurrence in Jakarta. Those involved in the fights are either young hoodlums or secondary school students. This is a sad phenomenon because the young are expected to serve the country in the future.
What will become of our country if the young spend their time and energy in gang fights?
I am sure that intellectuals, including high officials of the Jakarta administration, are aware that it is important for these young people to channel their surplus energy.
There are facilities for these young people, but they are mostly for those with money.
I propose the Jakarta administration build more affordable sports facilities for our youth.
The facilities could include football, volleyball or badminton fields. It is important there is a great number of such facilities that can be utilized free of charge all over the capital city.
There is a good chance of reducing the number of gang fights if the young spend their extra energy on sports. They may even become accomplished sportsmen.
