Sports Minister: National Team's EA Sports Inclusion Signals Rising Profile of Sports Industry
Sports Minister Erick Thohir believes the inclusion of Indonesia’s national team in EA Sports FC football game signals the upgrading of the national sports industry, leading to greater global recognition.
“Indonesia’s sports industry is no longer considered small; we are growing, upgrading, and gaining more global recognition,” said Erick.
He added that the official presence of the national team in one of the world’s most popular football games shows that Indonesian sports are not only advancing on the pitch but also expanding into the digital and creative sectors.
Erick stated that this move could positively boost youth interest in football while strengthening the sports-based creative economy.
“The effects will soon be felt, with young people becoming more interested in football, as well as bolstering the sports creative economy,” said the Sports Minister.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports welcomed the collaboration between PSSI (Indonesian Football Association) and EA Sports FC, which features the national team’s official identity in the game.
Kemenpora views this development as reflecting the transformation of the sports industry, increasingly connected with digital entertainment, gaming, media, and youth culture.
