Sports funds
Sports funds
From Bisnis Indonesia
Waves of deregulation measures are now hitting the sports
world. So inviting the private sector to support the SEA Games
1997 is timely. As a consequence I would like to suggest to the
would-be committee to study the success stories of other
countries that have involved private companies in sporting events
of world standard.
For example, we might follow Bill Payne, manager of Atlanta
Olympic Games, who has been very successful in his effort to
raise funds by applying the "win-win" strategy. The committee is
happy with the resulting funds and the donors are happy because
they can expect some gains in return.
At present, collecting funds through coercion is not
commendable and will inevitably earn contempt.
