Sports council to have new and better building
JAKARTA (JP): The National Sports Council (KONI) will have a
new and taller building, but may have to share it with private
companies.
Minister/State Secretary Moerdiono said during the grand
opening of the new office building of the Senayan Management
Board here yesterday that a 12-story building will accommodate
KONI and all sports organizations under its supervision.
Moerdiono dedicated the board's new office, which also has 12
stories, in a ceremony yesterday. Moerdiono is the ex-officio
chairman of the Gelora Senayan Foundation, which was set up by
the government to control land use at the sports complex.
"KONI and other sports organizations will use seven stories,
while the rest will be leased to private companies." Moerdiono
said.
It will be an integrated office for the country's various
sports organizations. Most of them are now situated around the
Senayan main stadium, but many others are scattered across the
capital city.
However, Moerdiono failed to go into details as to when the
construction project of KONI's new office will start.
"KONI will cooperate with a private company to build its new
building," Moerdiono said.
He said that during the construction project, KONI and other
sports organizations will have temporary offices at the board's
new building.
Moerdiono said that the old offices around the Senayan stadium
will be used as training venues for squash, table tennis and
gymnastics.
Saptodarsono, director of the management board, said that the
state-owned construction company, PT Pembangunan Perumahan,
needed more than three years to complete the board's building
which cost Rp 23 billion (US$10 million).
The new office stands on a 8,900-square-meter plot and
contains the 12-story main building, a 3-story annex building and
a 3-story connection building. The office complex is next to a
shopping and business center. (05)
