Sports Combined with Ecology, Social, and Technology Education
Amid increasingly complex global challenges, awareness of healthy lifestyles and environmental preservation forms the foundation for shaping future generations. This spirit underpinned the EST Fun Walk & Run 2026 in Jakarta on Sunday (21/6). The activity was not merely a mass sports event, but a crucial moment in the transformation of Sekolah HighScope Indonesia into EcoSocioTech (EST) School. Through this new vision, the school strengthens its commitment to providing education relevant to the times by integrating ecological, social, and technological aspects. Thousands of participants, including students, parents, teachers, and staff, joined the event. Its uniqueness lay in the thematically designed route featuring three main checkpoints: Eco, Socio, and Tech. At each point, participants scanned QR codes presenting educational messages on the importance of preserving ecosystems, fostering mutual care, and using technology wisely and ethically. To minimise environmental impact, the organisers collaborated with Balikin, a reusable drinking container service, to significantly reduce single-use plastic waste and ensure a less-waste event. Founder and CEO of EcoSocioTech School, Antarina S.F. Amir, stated that the EST Fun Walk & Run 2026 is hoped to be a starting point for various initiatives that strengthen collaboration between schools, families, and communities to build an environment that supports a healthy, character-driven, environmentally conscious generation ready for the future. The identity shift towards EST School is emphasised as a strategic evolution rather than a change in core values, with the primary focus remaining on character and integrity building, now enriched with global sustainability awareness. The event was also attended by EST School network owners and the management of Redea Institute, with performances by student bands such as Cherry Nights, Quinn of Hearts, and Hennesy adding to the festivities. Through this initiative, EST School aims to demonstrate that educational institutions play a central role in inspiring small steps that have a significant impact on the community and the planet.
