Sport adventures boost adrenaline levels

Bali is a haven for surfing, white-water rafting, diving, snorkeling and other sports activities which can test your courage.

* Surfing

As one of the world's most-famous surfing destinations, Bali offers one of the most beautiful spots in the world to take on the awesome power of the waves.

The best surfing spots are Kuta, Sanur, Nusa Dua, Nusa Lembongan and Canggu beach. For the most experienced surfers, the beach of Uluwatu near Jimbaran is the most legendary. Surfers must be cautious when surfing at Kuta due to strong under-water currents.

Beach guards operating on Kuta beach are on hand to help should you get into difficulty.

* Scuba Diving

Bali's underwater world is rated among the most scenic in the world with its amazing coral reefs and marine life.

The best diving spots are in the island's tourist centers of Kuta, Sanur, Lovina beach in Singaraja, North Bali, Pemuteran in West Bali and Candi Dasa in East Bali.

Certified instructors are available in any of the diving sites. Diving equipment is also available for rent.

* White-water rafting and jungle trekking.

There are several places for adventurous visitors wanting a taste of Bali's white water.

A number of companies have organize special packages which include white-water rafting in the Ayung River near Ubud, South Bali or Telaga Waja river in Klungkung. Most packages last for several hours, including transportation and lunch.

Some companies also organize other sports activities such as jungle trekking, bird watching and bicycle trips. Parasailing is also available at Tanjung Benoa near Nusa Dua.
