S'pore visitor arrivals up 12%
SINGAPORE: The number of visitors arriving in Singapore in October rose 12 percent to 638,237 from a year earlier, recovering from last year's tourism slump following the Sept. 11 attacks, the Singapore Tourism Board said Tuesday.
Visitor arrivals also rose on month, by 6.9 percent, as Singapore benefited from travelers diverted from Indonesia following the bomb blasts on the resort island of Bali the same month, the board said.
The total number of visitors for the January to October period fell by 0.8 percent to 6.3 million compared with the same period last year, the tourism board said. -- Dow Jones
