S'pore, Vietnam to boost economic ties

SINGAPORE: Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and
his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Tan Dung, met here on Tuesday
to explore new ways to boost economic ties between the two
countries.

The two leaders "discussed proposals for both countries to
build upon the achievements under the Vietnam-Singapore
Commission for Cooperation and pursue greater bilateral economic
connectivity," a joint statement issued after the meeting said.

They identified five areas in which bilateral economic
cooperation could be enhanced. The areas included the capital
markets, the flow of goods and people, telecommunications,
tourism and industrial parks. --AFP
