S'pore to work with DEA

SINGAPORE (DPA): Singapore's Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB)
plans to continue to work closely with the United States Drug
Enforcement Administration, a home ministry statement said
yesterday.

The ministry made the announcement in response to recent
comments by the U.S. embassy that it looked forward to working
with Singapore authorities on drug investigations.

The embassy said it wanted to put in place more formal
mechanisms for expanding the exchange of information on narcotics
smuggling and money laundering.

The embassy's remarks came in the wake of a controversy over
an Australian current affairs television program, Dateline, which
suggested that Singapore was linked with Myanmar drug lord Lo
Hsin Han. Singapore vehemently denied the allegation.
